The Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission (VLEPSC), established in 1993, was tasked with creating an accreditation program for Virginia law enforcement. VLEPSC includes representatives from the Virginia Sheriff’s Association, Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police and the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services. The Commission developed a comprehensive, efficient and practical process that can assist Virginia’s law enforcement agencies in the creation and certification of policies and procedures.
